Interview with Dr. Adrian Rubin: Renowned Climatologist and Public Advocate

Dr. Adrian Rubin is a climatologist who has known nothing but success in her life. She has pursued her passion for studying the weather and has provided valuable information that has helped the scientific community. She continues to work in the climatology field to help us understand the natural world around us.

Hello Adrian, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I have known since I was very little that I wanted to study the weather to find out more about our planet. I was encouraged from a very young age to pursue the medical field since it would provide career security for me. Unfortunately, it was not something that I wanted to pursue. It simply was not in my heart to work in medicine. I followed my gut instinct and completed my 4-year degree in meteorological science.

What are your focus areas and why?

My area of focus is climatology. I have worked tirelessly most of my adult life to spread awareness of global warming. It is harming our planet faster than we can realize. This area of study would equip me with the proper tools necessary to have the authority to speak on this issue.

Where did your interest in climatology come from?

I was always fascinated by the natural world around us. There are so many inexplicable phenomena that happen to our planet every single day. I was drawn to figuring out why these natural occurrences happen and how we might learn from them. I wanted to find ways to help mankind through my studies. I have spent my adult life traveling around the world and recording new and interesting weather patterns to help us understand our world. We live in a tiny bubble and have not fully come to realize what is out there on our planet.

How do you think you are making an impact in the field of climatology?

As mentioned before, my main goal in my career has been to spread awareness about global warming. I work closely with the state of Philadelphia to help raise climate awareness in the area. There are so many harmful pollutants that are being pumped into the atmosphere and into our ecosystem and are destroying the environment. We must be careful about what we dispose of otherwise it will destroy our planet. I have played my part in raising awareness to others about this issue.

Tell us about your efforts to combat climate change.

One of the most important ways that someone can raise awareness about climate change is by talking about it. I have gone to many seminars and various talks to help spread the message about global warming. I have an online blog where I share my findings on the matter. I am constantly seeking new opportunities to find ways to help bring awareness to this important issue. It can be difficult whenever there is opposition working against our cause. However, I believe when the evidence begins to present itself we will have no choice but to act as a society.

You host school field trips to introduce children to the world of climatology. How do structure these trips and what do you hope to instill in your students?

My goal is to make these trips as fun and educational as possible. Children are incredibly curious and want to learn about the world around us. However, they do have short attention spans. Making learning fun is the one way that will garner their interest.

Tell us more about your volunteer work spotlighting the effects of climate change among the public.

I spent a large majority of my time working with volunteer efforts. We help spread awareness to the public and aim to bring positive change to climate warming. I believe that working at the ground level is the best way to promote a grassroots movement.

You are also a blogger on top of everything else. What topics do you like to write about?

I primarily focus on climate change as a whole. However, I will create topics on how climate change is affecting our health and other aspects of our lives. There are many things that are happening behind the scenes that we are unaware of when it comes to global warming. My blog is just another tool that I use to raise awareness on the issue.

What are the top things you would like everyone to know about climate change?

One of the most important things that I want people to understand is that we do not have as much time as we think. We take our ozone layer and environment for granted. However, these resources are incredible finite. Now is the most important time in our history to take proactive action to prevent a global crisis from happening.
