Hello Vicky, can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I‘m owner and creator of e-shop, artprintsvicky. I’m graphic designer, happy mother and wife and I live in Greece. I used to work as freelancer as well as for advertising agencies.
Living in the one of most beautiful countries in the world, with its breathtaking islands and beaches, my life is filled with sun, peace and love. I adore to travel and visit different places, “living” new experiences and meeting people from around the world.
What are your focus areas and why?
My main focus is to continue to create artwork that can be a beautiful addition to any wall gallery and about the why … because I deeply believe in the minimalist power of my art prints, and yes “less is more”.
Where did your interest in graphic design come from?
I have had a deep need for “wanderlust” since I can remember. I create city skylines in order to take my clients on a captivating dreamlike journey around the globe with me.
This journey can be better described as a longing for connection, since we’re traveling through my artwork, together.
We all crave peace of mind, a lust for more traveling.
Tell us the story of how you started ArtPrintsVicky.
So, it all started back in April 2010, when I visited New York for an international exhibition.
I remember the queue was massive, so I took the chance to quickly sketch some of the glorious buildings.
After the long Greek financial-crisis period, this forgotten sketch found its way back to me to become my very first skyline print in the Etsy shop I created in early 2014.
What were some of the biggest challenges you faced while starting ArtPrintsVicky?
As a girl, I adored pastel tones, so I started my city skylines collection in my favorite color combination, but didn’t know if it would be accepted by a bigger audience.
I could not imagine that they would love it so much, and I deeply appreciate it as an artist.
What are some of the places you have visited while making your prints?
I have visited the New York (of course), the London, Paris, Vienna, Munich, Rome, Lyon and Venice.
What is your favorite place to visit?
Oh, there are so many places with so many different experiences!
If I had to pick one, probably the place which I loved most is Rome.
What are your top three travel tips?
Any advice for visitors to Athens?
Try to visit Athens in the spring, early summer or autumn.
Usually the summer is hot and it’s better during this period to visit islands.
Don’t forget to climb the holy rock of Acropolis and visit the Acropolis museum, to take a walk around Plaka, eat greek salad and souvlaki, and visit one of the beaches near Athens.
Any final words of wisdom for fellow entrepreneurs and travelers?
People often say “if you turn your hobby into a career, then you’ll never have to work a single day in your life,” which is something that defines me as a person and consequently as an artist.
