Dubai, United Arab Emirates: 7 Unique and Fun Things

Dubai isn’t big in terms of geography but tourists will never run out of fun things to do here.  Activities in this city range from the usual touristy ones (going to the beach, enjoying a Dubai desert safari, eating out, etc.) to more unique ones that you can only experience if you’re on holiday in Dubai.

Whether you’ve signed up for one of the available group holiday packages in Dubai or you plan on visiting this emirate on your own (look at British Airways business class reviews if you want to treat yourself), here are seven unusual, fun and memorable activities you should try in the City of Gold:

Visit the Dubai Miracle Garden

Visiting the Dubai Miracle Garden is certainly an unusual experience since Dubai is a city surrounded by sand. But even with the soil and hot weather conditions all year round, the city has managed to cultivate the world’s largest natural flower garden.

The Dubai Miracle Garden has an area of over 780,000 square feet, and boasts more than 109 million flowers and other plants.

This tourist attraction is also home to the Dubai Butterfly Garden, the world’s largest and the Middle East’s first indoor butterfly garden and reserve for more than 15,000 butterflies from 26 species.

You will also find a stunning floral clock, an Emirates airplane laden with flowers, an aromatic garden and numerous peacocks in this enchantingly beautiful garden.

Try Indoor Skydiving

After a bit of pampering and indulgence, it’s time you try something more exciting.

Dubai is home to the world’s first double vertical wind tunnel in the world. If you have ever wanted to try skydiving but you’re afraid of jumping out a flying airplane, you will get the same experience minus the plane and wide open skies at iFly Dubai.

The tunnel can take you up to four meters in the air. You can request for lower heights if you are not comfortable going up too high. Safety shouldn’t be a concern as an instructor will be there to guide you throughout the session as well.

Ride an Indoor Sub-zero Zipline

Ski Dubai is an indoor ski lodge and snow park covered with real snow. It is located at Mall of the Emirates, one of the world’s largest malls. At Ski Dubai, you can go skiing, snowboarding, sledding and ride on a ski lift even during the hottest times of the day.

You will also find the world’s first indoor sub-zero zip line here – the Snow Bullet. When you ride the Snow Bullet zipline (which spans 150 meters), you will fly down the hillside at an exciting speed and soar as high as 16 meters above the slopes.

Ride the World’s Longest Urban Zipline

In case you still haven’t satisfied your adrenaline cravings by riding an indoor zip line, put the XDubai zipline next on your itinerary.

This kilometer-long ride starts at the Amwaj towers in Jumeirah Beach Residences and ends at the terrace of the Dubai Marina Mall. You will be suspended 170 meters up in the air and glide at speeds of up to 80 kilometers per hour.

By riding the XDubai zipline, you will go on a truly exhilarating adventure and at the same time, enjoy scenic views of the city just below.

You can also take a Dhow Cruise from the marina.

Explore the Sea in Your Personal Submarine

If you’re looking for something more exciting than snorkeling, jet skiing or simply hanging out at the beach, rent a Seabreacher – the ultimate recreational boating machine.

This personal air-conditioned mini-submarine can go underwater and glide on the surface with a speed of 100 kilometers per hour. It comes in Shark, Killer Whale and Dolphin models – you can choose which model to hire based on your preference.

Once you’ve chosen your vehicle, prepare for an exhilarating ride while enjoying amazing underwater views.

Dine Underwater

Ossiano, located in Atlantis The Palm, is one of the most unique restaurants in the world. The dining area is surrounded by a floor-to-ceiling aquarium which makes diners feel like they are having lunch or dinner in the middle of the sea.

Aside from fantastic underwater views, Ossiano is known for its variety of amazing seafood dishes. They also offer an impressive lineup of imaginative cocktail and mocktail creations. You will have a hard time keeping your eyes off the amazing underwater life and surroundings while enjoying your food and drinks.

Experience Bollywood

Lastly, Dubai is home to Bollywood Parksthe world’s first Bollywood theme park. If you’re a fan of Bollywood movies, this is your chance to get a feel of how it’s like to be in one.

Bollywood Parks Dubai is divided into five themed zones with 16 rides and attractions. It also features various live shows including song and dance numbers from classic Bollywood movies. You can also get a glimpse of the behind-the-scenes snippets from popular Bollywood movie productions.

Visiting the usual tourist destinations in Dubai is certainly something you should do while you are in this city.

But if you’re looking for something more extraordinary and unique, you won’t have a hard time finding them in this emirate, too. And if you just want to relax, you can get a Hotel Pool Day Pass in Dubai.

While you’re in Dubai, try to do both to get the most out of your holiday.
